Monica Haag Gunnars

Ms Monica Haag Gunnars

Principal

This is our Principal Ms Monica Haag Gunnars. She is an experienced school leader and began her professional life as a school counsellor and has since had various roles within the education sector. Ms Haag Gunnars likes Nordic International School’s concept with a focus on knowledge progression and the international profile. She also believes that the clarity of rules and consequences contribute to a successful school. Ms Haag Gunnars has a bachelor’s degree in behavioural science, a Master in Educational management and has completed the principal’s program.

Angelica Jansson

Ms Angelica Jansson

Administrator

This is our school administrator Ms Angelica Jansson. She lives in Stockholm, where she is born and raised. Ms Jansson is a certified school-and-teaching assistant and holds a degree from secondary education in economics. She has mostly worked within B2B sales as an Account Manager. Ms Jansson is came with two years’ work experience from Grimstaskolan as a teaching assistant as well as a number of positions of trust at the school.

Jonas Gehlin

Mr Jonas Gehlin

Teacher and Vice Principal

This is our teacher Mr Jonas Gehlin. He lives in Stockholm, where he was born and raised. He is a certified teacher in Social Studies and Swedish, and holds teaching degrees from Uppsala University and Karlstad University. He has been devoted to the international educational approach, working at international schools throughout his career. First as a teacher and as a school manager at Internationella Engelska Skolan for eleven years, and then for five years as a teacher at Europaskolan. During this time, he reached level three within the International Baccalaureate training program for teaching staff.

Ms Nini Zhang

Teacher

This is our teacher Ms Nini Zhang. Ms Zhang is a certified teacher who holds a degree from the Chinese Department of Heze University, majoring in Chinese language and literature and a degree of Bachelor of Science in Education at Stockholm University, majoring in The Importance of Language when Learning Mathematics. She was born and raised in China and has worked in the education field as a teacher for years. She has two years’ experience working in the British school of Beijing and six years’ experience teaching international students. Ms Zhang is passionate about inspiring students to develop a lifelong love of learning and achieve their goals.

Rahul Rodricks

Mr Rahul Rodricks

Teacher

This is our teacher, Mr. Rodricks. He was born in Mumbai, India, and grew up in Auckland, New Zealand. He moved to Stockholm last summer and truly appreciates the long, bright summer days. Mr. Rodricks loves learning new things and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education, training in English as a second language, and a Master’s degree. His new challenges include learning Swedish, playing the ukulele, and snowboarding. Mr. Rodricks has lived and worked in six different countries and is a living example of what we educate our students to become – a global citizen.

Mr. Rodricks has been working at Nordic since the fall of 2022 and is also our Physical Education teacher.

Dr Edward Still

Teacher

Dr Edward Still lives in Kungsholmen and is a PGCE certified teacher who holds a first-class Batchelor’s degree in French and Latin from University College London and a Master’s and PhD in Modern and Medieval Languages from the University of Oxford. Dr Still’s PhD thesis centered on the representation of women in francophone Algerian literature and his PGCE dissertation considers effective techniques for teaching listening comprehension. Having taught French at the University of Surrey and the University of Birmingham, Dr Still spent three years teaching Modern Languages and Latin at Hurstpierpoint College in England. Dr Still was born and raised in England, but has also taught English at the Université d’Haute-Alsace in Mulhouse France and spent a year in Paris at a pensionnaire at the École Normale Supérieure.

Ms Bridget Nabachwa Johansson

Teacher

Ms. Bridget Nabachwa Johansson, one of our subject teachers, is a certified teacher in Swedish as a second language and English. In addition to her teaching background, she is also trained as an assistant nurse and has previously worked in healthcare. Since the spring of 2023, she has been a part of Nordic and appreciates the structure that characterizes our classrooms.

For Ms. Nabachwa Johansson, “work hard, be kind” means promoting both engagement and effort in studies while emphasizing the importance of empathy, compassion, and respect in all interactions. Combining her professions as an assistant nurse and teacher has been an enriching and challenging experience for her. Through her background in healthcare, she has gained valuable insights that she integrates into her teaching to create a supportive learning environment.

She is grateful for the opportunity to contribute to both healthcare and education, and looks forward to continuing to grow and develop in her role as a teacher at Nordic.

Diana Savina

Ms Diana Savina

Teacher

Ms Diana Savina is a certified teacher who aspires to bring the surrounding world into the classroom – and to pass on interest in what is happening around us and why. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in secondary education from Stockholm University, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and a Master’s Degree in Political Science. She has taught Social sciences at Grimstaskolan (Upplands Väsby) and prior to that, she worked with journalism in various roles. Her international interest has led to both photographic projects in different countries and an internship at the Embassy of Sweden in Moldova. She instructs our students in Social Studies subjects at Nordic Essingen.

Simon Chamoun

Mr Simon Chamoun

Teacher

This is our teacher Mr Simon Chamoun. He is a certified teacher who grew up in Örebro and lives in Stockholm. Mr Chamoun studied at Örebro University, where he holds his degrees in the subjects mathematics, science, Swedish, English and pedagogy. He has previously worked at Hagaskolan in Örebro where he taught Swedish and English. Mr Chamoun teaches Science and Maths at our school.

Nikisha Diaz

Ms Nikisha Diaz

Teacher

This is Ms Nikisha Diaz, born and raised in Stockholm and is a certified middle school teacher. She studied and obtained her degree at Stockholm University and teaches middle school core subjects as well as social studies and science studies. She has previously worked as a substitute teacher and loves her job as a teacher at Nordic International School Essingen where she can encourage and promote students’ learning.

Laura Phan

Ms Laura Phan

Teacher

Ms. Laura Phan, one of our subject teachers, holds a master’s degree in philosophy with a focus on English and Italian from the Leopold-Franzens-Universität Innsbruck, as well as a Swedish teaching certification in English, Italian, and German. Originally from Austria, she now lives in Stockholm. She speaks Swedish, English, German, Italian, and Spanish.

Before joining us at Nordic International School, she worked as a teacher of Italian and German at Folkuniversitetet in Stockholm. Since September 21, 2023, she has been a part of our team as a German-language teacher.

For Ms. Phan, “work hard, be kind” means clarifying the value and role of language in professional life and showing students how language is the key to everything they want to achieve in the future. She looks forward to sharing her passion for languages and creating an engaging and inspiring learning environment for her students.

Jade Ronse

Ms Jade Ronse

Teacher

Ms. Jade Ronse, one of our teachers at Nordic Essingen, holds a Bachelor’s degree in French and English Language and Literature as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Education. She is from Vancouver, Canada, and now lives in Stockholm.

Before joining Nordic International School, she worked at IES Årsta as an English and MFL teacher and mentor. Since August 7, 2023, she has been part of our team and will be Head of Lower School from August 2024.

For Ms. Ronse, “work hard, be kind” means creating an inclusive and safe environment for everyone and promoting creativity and growth. She chose Nordic for its clear structure and looks forward to developing the school together with her colleagues.

Emmy Mared

Ms Emmy Mared

Teacher

Ms. Emmy Mared is one of our dedicated teachers at Nordic Essingen. Originally from Huskvarna, Sweden, she now lives in Stockholm. Emmy speaks Swedish and English fluently. She holds a primary school teaching degree for grades 4-6 from the University of Gävle.

Before joining Nordic International School Essingen, where she has been a homeroom teacher for grade 5 during her first year, she worked as a Swedish and SVA (Swedish as a Second Language) teacher for grades 4-7 and as a mentor for grades 4-5. Starting in the fall of 2024, she will also be the team leader for grades 4-5 and a homeroom teacher for grade 4.

Ms. Mared looks forward to further developing a strong, highly competent team and creating a safe and supportive environment for both students and teachers. For her, “work hard, be kind” means doing your best based on your abilities and showing care for yourself and others. She chose Nordic International School for its clear structure and order, as well as its international focus and the warmth and care that permeates the school.
